KANSAS CITY, Kan. — QUE U won American Royal World Series of Barbecue - INVITATIONAL CONTEST, best of 249 invited teams; Bushmaster BBQ took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across September 2022, 56 sanctioned contests were scored, across 25 states and provinces, drawing 1,488 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 1,995 top-ten calls and handed out 84 perfect 180s. 282 teams appear in the record for the first time. The full standings run on B1.
