Best of 180 invited teams, with SHAKE 'N BAKE BBQ in reserve — a win for the record book that leaves the power rating alone.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — 913 BBQ won 37th Annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue (INVITATIONAL), best of 180 invited teams; SHAKE 'N BAKE BBQ took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across October 2016, 38 sanctioned contests were scored, across 22 states and provinces, drawing 1,645 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 1,507 top-ten calls and handed out 44 perfect 180s. 255 teams appear in the record for the first time. The full standings run on B1.
