KANSAS CITY, Mo. — SMOKIN HOGGZ BBQ - MA won 35th Annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue Invitational, best of 165 invited teams; DIRT ROAD BBQ took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across October 2014, 59 sanctioned contests were scored, across 25 states and provinces, drawing 2,162 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 2,326 top-ten calls and handed out 54 perfect 180s. 582 teams appear in the record for the first time. The full standings run on B1.
