KANSAS CITY, Mo. — COOL SMOKE won 34th Annual American Royal World Series of Barbecue Invitational, best of 174 invited teams; T-MAC SMOKIN took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across October 2013, 44 sanctioned contests were scored, across 22 states and provinces, drawing 1,768 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 1,759 top-ten calls and handed out 19 perfect 180s. The full standings run on B1.
