KANSAS CITY, Kan. — CLARK CREW BBQ won 38th American Royal World Series of Barbecue (INVITATIONAL), best of 129 invited teams; HOGLINE took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across August 2017, 60 sanctioned contests were scored, across 31 states and provinces, drawing 1,800 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 2,304 top-ten calls and handed out 47 perfect 180s. 368 teams appear in the record for the first time. The full standings run on B1.
