LYNCHBURG, Tenn. — Heavy Smoke BBQ won Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational Barbecue (Competitor's Series) (JUDGES BY INVITATION ONLY), best of 83 invited teams; GOOD GOOGLY GOO BBQ took reserve. An invite-only field, so it leaves the power rating alone and goes straight into the record book.
Across October 2022, 49 sanctioned contests were scored, across 21 states and provinces, drawing 1,238 teams to the turn-in table. Judges made 1,731 top-ten calls and handed out 68 perfect 180s. 215 teams appear in the record for the first time. The full standings run on B1.
